Scenic New Jersey Roads Perfect For Those Long Autumn Drives
There's no better time than autumn to hop in the car roll down the windows and explore the backroads of our gorgeous state! Check out this list of amazing scenic roads that are sure to tickle your fall fancy!
1. Palisades Scenic Byway
This is the first Fall Folliage drive on our list and it clocks in at 13 miles. On this drive, you won't want to miss the view from the Palisades Interstate Park which is a National Historic Landmark. This Park is home to over 30 miles of trails that make amazing fall hikes with breathtaking views. You could make this foliage drive an all-day affair filled with hiking! North Jersey - 13 Miles Long - View Map
2. Delaware River Scenic Byway
Starting in Trenton and heading north you'll meander your way along the Delaware River north to French Town. This drive is loaded with spectacular scenery of the Delaware & Raritan Canal along with the picturesque Delaware River. There are many places to stop and epxlore to make the most of the drive. Pull off at Lambertville to visit antique shops, art gallerys and to grab a bite to eat. Enjoy a tasting at a nearby winery overlooking the mountains of the Delaware River. Hike a little bit at Washington Crossing State Park or cross the walking bridge over the Delaware at Bulls Island Recreational Area. End the trip in Frenchtown, a cahmring historic town for a little more shopping, wlaking and dinning.

3. Millstone Valley Scenic Byway
This last scenic drive cuts through the historic Revelutionary War and Canal sections of central Jersey. The drive is a loop around the Millstone River, begning in Kingston to Millstone Borough and back. If you love the outdoors and nature this drive is loaded with parks and historic areas to explore. The Delaware and Rartian Canal makes another apreance in this drive as its the center of attention. The canal follows the path of the Millstone River and is great for walking, running or biking. Colonial Gardens Park is atatched to the canal path entrance and is a winderfall area to walk and enjoy a "pic-nic" lunch. The nearby Duke Farms is full of gardens, wandering trails and water scapes. Finish the day off with dinner in beatufull Princeton, NJ which is just overly gorgeous in the fall with the autumn leaves.
